2014 NIKE CHANGES SOCCER WITH MAGISTA

Nike invited a few soccer employees to Barcelona, Spain to attend what promised to be a launch that would change soccer forever. Nike had released some tease shots of the Magista and a pretty cool video featuring some heavyweight soccer talent, but we weren’t sure quite what to expect.

A crowd of expectant soccer industry folks were in attendance when FC Barcelona’s Andrés Iniesta  unveiled Nike’s latest game-changer.
In a vivid Volt/Hyper Punch color combo, Magista is definitely going to change the way we look at soccer cleats and what we expect from them. At first glance, Magista looks more like a classic American football cleat, than it does one made for soccer. It features a high-top Dynamic Fit collar, no tongue, a new Flyknit upper and various other technical advancements.

THE TECHNICAL DETAILS:
The upper features, as Nike teased, a technology called Flyknit. Flyknit, first seen on running shoes in 2012, is an engineered 3D woven upper that’s designed to create a true second-skin, sock-like feel with support “knitted” directly into the cleat. The Flyknit is covered in Nikeskin to offer added protection from the elements.
The high cut, which Nike is calling the Dynamic Fit collar, lets the ankle, foot and leg work as one. Nike developed the ideal height to offer comfort, uninterrupted touch and a locked in fit. The upper also has supportive “Brio cables.” These cables are knitted directly into the one-piece upper and lock the eyelet into the outsole.
